Some tips about Windows Journal that you may not be aware of
1) you can erase handwriting by crossing out with 3 horizontal lines
2) you can emulate a RIGHT MOUSE CLICK by holding down the tablet pen until you see the funky circle come on ... this can be useful after highlighting text and wanting to COPY it
3) you can insert lines by using the INSERT icon ... graphic needed here to illustrate

4) you can view Windows Journal files on a PC that does NOT have Windows Journal if you download this free software ... click here to download to a PC
5) to open the input panel, make 3 quick strokes with the stylus without touching the screen ... now the input panel is open ... or you can click the button to the right of the green start button (Tracy)
6) from Windows Journal you can import documents ... from the standard toolbar you go to 4th icon which looks like 2 pieces of paper with an arrow (one to left of magnifying glass) ... then click on any document that can be printed and press IMPORT .. now your document -- even with a graphic -- comes into Window Journal (Emily)
7) converting INK to TEXT .. when in general Windows Journal, you write text with style, then select the lasso up top and highlight the text to convert ... then go to ACTIONS and choose the second choice that reads CONVERT HANDWRITING to text .. you get a popup ... you now approve or make changes then OK ... and now insert into the same Journal note (Maria)
8) to insert a picture, choose INSERT from top menu then PICTURE and browse your computer and choose INSERT .. .you can also change the size
9) to make the text and graphics on a page "frozen" you go to FILE then PRINT as a Journal Note Write document .. then choose PRINT and save (Jaime)
10) You can take a PowerPoint and can drag it into Windows Journal ... each slide appears as a page in Windows Journal (Meg)
11) You can insert a graphic into Windows Journal by choosing INSERT then PICTURE (Oumar)
12) To change the cursor to a SCROLL FUNCTION called a "pan" ... you go to TOOLS then SELECT PAN which is above options ... now the cursor changes to a hand and lets you move around (Kara)
13) You can handwrite ONE character at a time when using the INPUT PANEL which is yellow ... you click on the left in the middle and this is called the CHARACTER PAD ... this gives ease of typing Web addresses and you can even change the uppercase/lowercase of each chraracter you handwrite
14) Neat tip ... student sends first draft as a Window Journal to teacher (drop box on server) ... teacher now marks it up in red with Windows Journal and sends it back forth ... so this is an electronic back and forth correction file (Ron)
15) You can put gestures in the YELLOW INPUT PANEL to backspace, space, Enter or Tab (Brian)
16) To highlight look at the top row and choose the ICON next to the PEN ... you can highlight in other colors (Therese)
17) You can draw a sloppy circle or oval or square or crooked line and then lasso it ... now choose CHANGE SHAPE TO under the ACTIONS MENU (Sherri)
18) For an outlook meeting, you go to the meeting list and select the date and time, then press OK ... you can copy and paste this into your journal note .. you can write notes about this (Mary)
